When I was young, I wanted to do something about music, whether it be somebody doing shows behind closed doors or producing.
Speaker A:But I didn't.
Speaker A:I didn't know I was gonna be rapping.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Here I am.
Speaker B:That shit's crazy how you said you could write to a song.
Speaker C:Just tune out the fucking.
Speaker C:That's crazy.
Speaker B:Tripping.
Speaker A:He was like, what do you do if it's, like, too, too fast like the one you're writing?
Speaker A:I was like, just slow it down what you're saying.
Speaker B:What's going on, y' all?
Speaker B:Welcome back to another episode of Unquestionable Podcast.
Speaker D:Yes, sir.
Speaker B:We got a special guest today.
Speaker A:Yeah, Truly Goony.
Speaker A:What's happening?
Speaker B:Appreciate you coming out, bro.
Speaker D:Appreciate you, bro.
Speaker A:Man, like I was telling y' all, y' all got a dope setup, man.
Speaker A:It's real professional.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It's dope, bro.
Speaker A:I've been watching y' all, too.
Speaker D:Appreciate that.
Speaker A:So appreciate y' all having me.
Speaker D:No, so first off, like, you know, you're coming off of a album release.
Speaker D:How's that been going, man?
Speaker A:Man, it's been dope.
Speaker A:Yours truly, 14 unreleased tracks.
Speaker A:I've been had it done a while.
Speaker A:I was trying to shoot for, like, a Black Friday drop, but a lot was going on with the label.
Speaker A:Rest in peace.
Speaker A:Bam.
Speaker A:Things was just on pause.
Speaker A:And, man, now it's back rolling, though, you know?
Speaker A:So it's just been sitting alongside with all my other.
Speaker A:I got a lot of.
Speaker A:Bro.
Speaker A:I got a lot of projects that's been sitting for years, and it's, like, kind of crazy when I go through it, like.
Speaker A:But it's going good, man.
Speaker A:Sat down with no paperwork.
Speaker A:Podcast last Saturday.
Speaker A:The album dropped Thursday before that.
Speaker D:Recently.
Speaker A:Yeah, man, this is the first time that I dealt with the label.
Speaker A:I've done everything on my own since the beginning.
Speaker A: e, like, November or December: Speaker A:So it's a little while, but this is the first time it's been, like, out of my control with the drops and stuff, and we didn't really go over no marketing strategy or nothing like that, so.
Speaker A:Man, they dropped.
Speaker A:They dropped four videos in a week, man.
Speaker A:I'm like, damn, that's what y' all on.
Speaker A:But, hey, it looks good.
Speaker A:That's hell of a title right there, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So, yeah, man, it dropped last Thursday.
Speaker A:It's like, what a weekend now.
Speaker A:What is it Saturday today?
Speaker A:Yeah, I dropped four videos in a week.
Speaker A:On my second podcast.
Speaker A:And, you know, with this rollout, man, it's going good.
Speaker E:Was that hard?
Speaker E:Something to kind of like, grasp at first.
Speaker E:You're like, damn, four videos in one week.
Speaker D:Or.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I was like, damn, that was like, which.
Speaker A:Which one you want to drop next and drop at 6?
Speaker A:I'm like, are you sure?
Speaker B:You know, but.
Speaker A:And honestly, it's like, awkward timing.
Speaker A:It's like, kind of been a rough week for the family, for my people.
Speaker A:We took going through a lot, bro, and just kind of went left, and it just awkward.
Speaker A:It's timing.
Speaker A:So I really didn't.
Speaker A:It feels up to me, you know, I wouldn't even want to drop it, you know, but.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:But it is what it is, you know, just when goes left sour.
Speaker A:Just keep working and, you know, just hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
Speaker A:And you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:That's all you can do is work, you know?
Speaker A:I mean.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's been cool, man.
Speaker A:It's been cool.
Speaker A:Appreciate y' all having me too, man.
Speaker A:I was excited, to be honest.
Speaker A:I appreciate you coming on, bro.
Speaker B:We've been.
Speaker B:We've been trying to reach out to hella more local artists and Sacramento people.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:But I've been saying that I haven't get the butt.
Speaker B:Haven't had a hell of people responding.
Speaker B:Appreciate you responding.
Speaker B:Come back.
Speaker A:Hell yeah.
Speaker A:No, it's good automatically, you know, I with you.
Speaker A:I with your pops, man.
Speaker A:Appreciate that.
Speaker A:Shout out, Mad Dog.
Speaker A:I was.
Speaker A:I was speaking on him on the last podcast, too.
Speaker A:Oh, how?
Speaker A:They're asking me, like, influences and.
Speaker A:And like, I was saying, I was.
Speaker A:That's like, my first memories, bro.
Speaker A:Is hearing your dad's voice in the back seat of a Bing type with hell, bro.
Speaker A:It's crazy.
Speaker A:Full circle, like.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I be like, man, in the studio with people I grew up listening to, like, from AWACS to probably tripping out, and the last thing I think is, like, damn, we get some content and, like, trying to get out there more.
Speaker A:That's why I'm here, you know, just in the moment.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But, man, you know, I fuck with your pops, bro, and it's like, first memories, bro, is like hearing that fool's voice and then years later, sneaking to Kathe's and whatever the fuck.
Speaker A:Drinking with my cousins and pointing out videos.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's the homie right there.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:Homies brought Woody to the hood and I'm like 12.
Speaker A:Like, damn, that's crazy to now I got songs with bro.
Speaker A:And he came home, bro.
Speaker A:And I was on his first album.
Speaker A:He wanted me on the album.
Speaker A:I'm like, what the.
Speaker A:Like, that's crazy, bro.
Speaker A:Man, shout out Mad dog, man.
Speaker A:We here, man.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's what's up.
Speaker D:How.
Speaker A:How.
Speaker B:So describe a little bit of that.
Speaker B:You saying, like, when you're with those people and like, you.
Speaker B:You don't even have.
Speaker B:You're not even thinking to do content.
Speaker B:Like, how is it being in that moment?
Speaker A:It's a trip, man.
Speaker A:I'm real.
Speaker A:I'm the type of person, just live in the moment type person.
Speaker A:I never think to grab a camera or take a selfie or record nothing.
Speaker A:It's a real adjusted adjustment for me.
Speaker A:Like, I've been doing it, like I said, like, five years, and I'm still trying to get out there, get my personality in my.
Speaker A:In my face, used to being in front of a camera, you know, so it's hard, bro, because I just be living in the moment.
Speaker A:I gotta remind myself like, man, like, the last.
Speaker A:I did a podcast.
Speaker A:I ain't post nothing about it.
Speaker A:Like, I was like, damn, I should have got a picture or.
Speaker A:Or posted something that night or something like that.
Speaker A:You know, I got a little something, but I don't know if they want to drop until then.
Speaker A:But it's an adjustment, bro.
Speaker A:But I'm getting used to.
Speaker A:I'm getting better, man.
Speaker A:You know, Sound like I was telling y' all, I'm looking into getting all this camera work and, you know, getting this album deal money, you know, saying gonna reinvest in myself.
Speaker A:As much as I want to go ball out in order more, you know what?
Speaker A:I' go get me a little logo piece or something.
Speaker A:I'm like, man, I gotta.
Speaker A:I gotta do.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's what I usually do with all my music, too.
Speaker A:Like, my Paint the City Purple went up and I took that bread and I went and got me, like, an npc.
Speaker A:Try to force my hand to start producing beats.
Speaker A:I always been infatuated with that part of music, and that's usually what I do.
Speaker A:Sometimes when I find myself at, like, a standstill or stagnant, I'll upload a song, and like I said, a day, I'm like, now you have to shoot the video?
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:So that's how I'm saying I always reinvest in myself.
Speaker A:And I'm about to get into all this.
Speaker A:People gonna be seeing me a whole lot more, man.
Speaker A:I got a lot of music.
Speaker A:I'm shooting for at least three albums a year.
Speaker A:It's June We.
Speaker A:We have with the half halfway mark, and I got two solo projects and 25 new songs and a handful of videos, you know what I mean?
Speaker A:So I'm just trying to keep it pushing, try to do better what I was doing last year, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:Keep progressing.
Speaker D:Keep progressing.
Speaker A:That's the model.
Speaker A:Keep doing this with.
Speaker D:With, you know, pushing out so much more, you know, and pushing out so much more product and more songs and everything like that.
Speaker D:And especially with nowadays and age, the marketing is all visually based, like, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker D:You have to spend a lot of time, like you said, you have either taking videos or getting videos done and stuff like that.
Speaker D:How has that been juggling?
Speaker D:You know, not only getting the songs done, not only getting the albums done, but also having to, you know, learn out how to properly market it in today's climate.
Speaker A:You know, man, it's a lot because we came up in the era.
Speaker A:Well, it's a hell of a ship the past couple years, but I was listening to Max Dre pulling up.
Speaker A:We're just talking about Mad Dog, like, how many Mac Dre videos could he think of right at the top of the head?
Speaker A:You don't.
Speaker A:And this was like the biggest.
Speaker A:Like what?
Speaker A:Like I was listening to him now just unconsciously on shuffle.
Speaker A:And so it's a whole nother time, and I wish it was.
Speaker A:I could just produce the music and that'd be enough.
Speaker A:Because if that's what we're doing, you want to compare some.
Speaker A:Like, I think it's real high quality and it's in this good music.
Speaker A:Yeah, but sometimes it's almost like if you didn't shoot no content to it, it almost didn't close to not even happening, bro.
Speaker A:You almost didn't even.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It don't matter.
Speaker A:So getting accustomed to it still.
Speaker A:And what was the question again?
Speaker A:My bad, bro.
Speaker D:It was just more of, like, you know, today's day and age marketing is all visually based.
Speaker D:You're already having such a heavy output.
Speaker D:You're putting out a bunch of music, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:How has it been not only putting out all this music, but also now having to uphold that end of it to, like, the content side that we were talking about.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's been, like I said, learning experience.
Speaker A:And when I get kind of like a standstill, I look at the people that almost, like on some street, when you're becoming a man, you're looking at your uncle that you like, and he does certain things, but you didn't like that one thing he did.
Speaker A:So you'll take what you like and then you look at your pop.
Speaker A:So you like how he'd handle this, but you didn't agree with that.
Speaker A:I'll look at, like, Burner Awax and see how they do.
Speaker A:They roll outs.
Speaker A:And I would mirror it, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It ain't nothing wrong with stealing some game.
Speaker A:They don't got to give it to you, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So looking at the examples that I have around me and.
Speaker A:And because ain't nobody sitting me down and tell me how to roll out anything or do anything upload, saying, I started my own YouTube channel and I'm looking know how other people do their titles and you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So just looking around me, really, and just trying to adapt to the times, you know what I'm saying, and handle it like that, you know?
Speaker D:No, definitely.
Speaker D:That's the same thing we did, bro.
Speaker D:We deconstructed what we like out of, like, other podcasts.
Speaker A:I think that's like, yeah, on the way here, some kid that I.
Speaker A:I put up on him last week and he got a half from me and he just messaged me on Instagram talking about, like, how'd you get your flow?
Speaker A:Like, I'm trying to get into music, and I'm like, that's like asking a kid.
Speaker A:I'm driving on the way here, like, right now, bro, just happened.
Speaker A:I'm gonna send him a voicemail on the ground.
Speaker A:I was like, that's like asking a young kid, what's your style and clothing?
Speaker A:Like, how'd you get your style?
Speaker A:It's like, bro, that's real.
Speaker A:It takes time.
Speaker A:Like, I've been writing since I was, like, in middle school, bro, and I'm about.
Speaker A:I'm about to be 28 next month, and I feel like I barely got, like, a flow that I hella like that.
Speaker A:I've heard consistently within this past couple years that it's just naturally coming.
Speaker A:I was like, bro, it took that long, though, you know what I mean?
Speaker A:I've been rapping for five years, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker B:And sometimes that's the hardest part, too.
Speaker B:Just finding that comfortability with the flow that you're doing.
Speaker B:Because I know personally, that's a.
Speaker B:Same type of.
Speaker B:When I first started, I'm just.
Speaker B:I don't know what the I'm doing.
Speaker B:You're just going in there and trying to lay down whatever you can lay down.
Speaker A:And then especially when your dad is who he is.
Speaker C:Exactly.
Speaker A:How is that pressure coming out?
Speaker B:I come like this.
Speaker A:Yeah, but you definitely bruh, like, when he's.
Speaker A:When he came out stuck and stuck out like a sore thing.
Speaker A:Is it just yourself?
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:That's what I try to do to just make sure I'm original as possible.
Speaker A:As much as I like other artists, I make sure.
Speaker A:Man, it kills me when they say, why is he trying to sound like Messi Moore?
Speaker A:And y' all hear my voice right now?
Speaker A:I'm not trying to say, like, I'm like.
Speaker A:I'm not trying to sound like him, but it's like, man, you know, you can't.
Speaker B:Yeah, you can't fight it.
Speaker B:That's at that point over years.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:It's my favorite artist, and I listening to him my whole life.
Speaker A:Like, you're gonna kind of.
Speaker B:You're gonna.
Speaker A:Somewhere a little bit, but.
Speaker A:But I always reminded myself to try to be original as possible.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:To the littlest thing to where I'm.
Speaker A:I'm lyrical, and I.
Speaker A:And you can only run so many words with so many words with so many topics.
Speaker A:And then I'll hear somebody from around the way.
Speaker A:Visalia, somewhere.
Speaker A:Like, in his verse, he said, like, the same bar as me, and I'm like, like, oh, I can't say that no more.
Speaker A:Yeah, I'm not gonna record that, and I'll read it, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So, you know, trying to stay original.
Speaker B:You know, not talk about that.
Speaker B:YouTube.
Speaker B:I seen you just hit a million, too, on the.
Speaker B:On the video.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:No, that was a hundred thousand.
Speaker B:A hundred thousand?
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:I wish that was a million.
Speaker A:That would have been a hell of a check.
Speaker A:That's what.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:Add another zero on that.
Speaker A:I appreciate it, though.
Speaker B:Anyway, that's a hell of a lot of videos.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:Hell, yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah, for sure.
Speaker A:And I just barely got, like, my first YouTube check, like, three months ago, so that's another streamer.
Speaker A:That's why I started it too, man.
Speaker A:It's like, coming into it, it was hard because every time I went on this way on Shima or I went anywhere else, my numbers was tripling.
Speaker A:And it's like, not just that one song.
Speaker A:It's like you go, what dropped that a week before that?
Speaker A:What dropped after that?
Speaker A:Like, it stuck out.
Speaker A:And it's doing way more than all was around it.
Speaker A:But I'm like, man, I know I could do numbers on there.
Speaker A:But at the End of the day, this is a form of revenue, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So it was a long shot.
Speaker A:It was.
Speaker A:It was.
Speaker A:It was for the long run move.
Speaker A:And it was hard at the beginning.
Speaker A:And the first song I did, as crazy as it sounds, that's the most views on my whole YouTube thing, bro.
Speaker A:Like, you go back, go to my first video, it's like 173, 000 or something.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So it's like when I seen that and I was like, man, it's with the homie decent.
Speaker A:I was like, I know that's gonna help the views.
Speaker A:And Top tier game is a song.
Speaker A:And I was like, man, that's not gonna get no views.
Speaker A:And I just wasted this song, bro.
Speaker A:And that went up and it was just like affirmation.
Speaker A:Like, bro, you're on the right track.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Just keep doing your Douglas.
Speaker A:It's gonna fall into place.
Speaker A:So, yeah, man, it's.
Speaker A:It's dope and I like it.
Speaker A:It's easy to.
Speaker A:To see everything.
Speaker A:You can see my.
Speaker A:Literally, like you go on Netflix and you could just watch the whole season one and the whole.
Speaker A:You could go to my YouTube right now.
Speaker A:See the beginning.
Speaker A:And it's not hard to find when these artists are dropping here, here, here and there.
Speaker A:Like, you look it up and it's just scattered, unorganized.
Speaker A:Like, you could just go back and look at my whole career from the beginning, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And see the progression and the quality and the sound and the flow and the style and.
Speaker A:And the money.
Speaker A:You see the difference.
Speaker A:Go back five years.
Speaker A:You know, that's dope, bro.
Speaker B:Yeah, you see the real time.
Speaker A:Yeah, you see the time.
Speaker A:That's hard for sure.
Speaker A:Five years.
Speaker A:That's a long time.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's the long run.
Speaker B:I mean, I'm glad that that investment, I mean, it's a gamble.
Speaker B:Gamble to do it at first.
Speaker B:Like, it is like how you say you dropped the first man.
Speaker B:It's like I'm this man.
Speaker A:I was stressed the out and I was like, silver, like getting my tires done or something.
Speaker A:And I just like uploaded from my phone too.
Speaker A:I was like, I don't know if that's gonna like lose quality.
Speaker A:You know, I was all worried, but it worked out.
Speaker A:I'm saying that's dope, bro.
Speaker D:No, that's dope.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:I'll never forget that.
Speaker D:And talking about, you know, you want to invest into more equipment, you invest into your own YouTube channel, you know, now you have your own Label.
Speaker D:Correct.
Speaker D:Break down.
Speaker D:Break down that for us, the starting of that.
Speaker D:What came from that.
Speaker D:What, you know, what's driving this independent drive for me, you know, man, is.
Speaker A:Really, from the beginning, I never really looked to sign or like, the examples that I had, what I wanted to be like.
Speaker A:It was all independent.
Speaker A:We're from Northern California, you know, everybody around us is independent that we idolize.
Speaker A:Like, from the Woody's to the Mac Dre's to.
Speaker A:They're all on that.
Speaker A:On that time.
Speaker A:And I just knew, regardless if down the road I do sign, I still wanted something that I, like, could hold, like a logo or a business that I could be proud of.
Speaker A:So it'll be this and that.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And incorporating my name with the star and the G with the ghetto.
Speaker A:It's Ghetto Star Records, by the way.
Speaker A:Gsr and damn, that sound mania so Yorkies is jumping the.
Speaker B:Dog fighting.
Speaker A:That's just so nuts.
Speaker A:But yeah, man, just incorporating like I did the TG was.
Speaker A:It really started for the name.
Speaker A:I wanted a logo for my name because you know how certain artists will have like the same font.
Speaker A:It's all about branding, bro.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Like the same fun part.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Consistent.
Speaker A:So I wanted a.
Speaker A:A label or.
Speaker A:Or not a label, a logo for my name.
Speaker A:And then when I seen it, I was like, oh, it just opened up some other.
Speaker D:Yeah, it's bigger than me type.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's bigger than me.
Speaker A:And I'm like, man, I gotta find out what a dope name I wanted to do something with.
Speaker A:GSR is a.
Speaker A:You know, but it came.
Speaker A:Came about the T and the G.
Speaker A:Truly goonie.
Speaker A:Then it's a G, Ghetto Star.
Speaker A:And kind of the net.
Speaker A:The reason why I came up with that name is it's kind of like there's a difference from ghetto and hood, you know, like, you can introduce me to your grandma and.
Speaker A:And your uncle that just got out.
Speaker A:They both gonna love me.
Speaker A:You know, I'm not loud in the theater, but, you know, just.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:But ghetto, I still was called that from.
Speaker A:In certain areas, you still walk in.
Speaker A:You feel that.
Speaker A:That those looks.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:And people judging you and kind of regardless of how I carry myself, what I invest myself in, there's still going to be people out there that's gonna look at me as ghetto.
Speaker A:So, like, taking it in, like, yeah, I'm from that and I'm proud of that.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And I could have been further, but I had a Horrible in the streets.
Speaker A:I'm a store.
Speaker A:I'm a ghetto store.
Speaker A:And I'm always gonna be ghetto or hood, whatever you want to call me.
Speaker A:And just embracing that, like that's, that's what it is.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So I thought, I thought that would be dope for, for the label and just fit.
Speaker B:That's interesting to see the back, the background.
Speaker A:Yeah, it goes deep.
Speaker A:You know, I, I, I'm a heavy thinker, man.
Speaker B:But that's cool because I mean, a lot of these people, they're not even really putting much thought into anything.
Speaker B:But it's dope to see that you're, you're the passion for it is showing through all the deep meanings and work behind what you're doing.
Speaker E:You've been talking about, you've been talking about like album rollout and stuff.
Speaker E:How's, what's that process like that, you know, going like for you right now?
Speaker E:Is there anything that you kind of.
Speaker C:Want to speak on or anything like that?
Speaker E:Or at least, you know, not anything too crazy or anything like that.
Speaker E:Anything you want people to know, at least for your fans supporting you as.
Speaker A:Far as I'm around.
Speaker A:And man, Northern Organized Records really, really put another battery in my back, bro.
Speaker A:Like when they, when they reached out.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And like I was in a moment in time where I stopped rapping probably once a month.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It's like if this is one of them times, I'm like, man, I give a about this, bro.
Speaker A:And I got a lot that's on standby.
Speaker A:A lot of projects just collecting dust over the years and it don't age well.
Speaker A:You go through stuff in your sound forms and just topics of people like you happens, unfolding the way you said it.
Speaker A:They could take it the wrong way.
Speaker A:It's a bad timing now.
Speaker A:Don't drop it.
Speaker A:And then just like rat, bro, I was in a kind of a weird spot and then they hit me like, man, let's do this.
Speaker A:I did my homework.
Speaker A:That was good people and they talking about a good number.
Speaker A:That just, it just motivated me.
Speaker A:Like every time I get a little stagnant or something, bro, you get a little affirmation game.
Speaker A:Gotta throw it in your face.
Speaker A:You look around and you just be in a studio with somebody you grew up with or somebody's trying to throw album to at you.
Speaker A:Are you somebody grew up to, Grew up listening to is commenting on your or like, I see you, you know, I'm saying like, keep it up.
Speaker A:Like, damn, you need those little affirmations, you know, I'm saying, keep this independent artist going.
Speaker A:But as far as anything, I want the people to know.
Speaker A:Oh, no, I got.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's kind of a wide question.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's a wide.
Speaker A:I'll get back to you Listen to music.
Speaker A:That's what I want them to hear.
Speaker D:That's the real.
Speaker D:And speaking on working with Nor, how was that.
Speaker D:How's that process different from, you know, you talk about, you know, being so independent.
Speaker D:You know, how is that kind of having to not only take into account somebody else, but also they kind of.
Speaker C:Hold the control in this situation a.
Speaker A:Little bit, you know, Like I said, they dropped their four albums in a week.
Speaker A:I was like, damn, that's crazy.
Speaker A:But it was cool, man, because everything I do is my.
Speaker A:My own brand.
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker A:Like, I'm.
Speaker A:I'm paying for the videos.
Speaker A:I'm paying for the studio time.
Speaker A:They was like, man, we don't take care of everything.
Speaker A:All you got to do is pull up and perform.
Speaker A:I'm like, what?
Speaker A:Say less.
Speaker A:Say less.
Speaker A:But I'm still so picky, bro.
Speaker A:I still put money into it.
Speaker A:It's like, it's.
Speaker A:I still put, like, probably like, five done it of like, let me take it to this engineer.
Speaker A:Let me, man.
Speaker A:Let me get this beat.
Speaker A:Let me.
Speaker A:I was still doing it, bro.
Speaker A:You can't help it when you.
Speaker A:When you.
Speaker A:I am perfectionist for sure.
Speaker A:But it was cool, man, because I've never had to do anything where it was just, like, provided for me like that, where all I really had to do is just pull up and perform.
Speaker A:So that's probably, like, the highlight right there.
Speaker A:It's like, that's dope.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And just working with other artists, too.
Speaker A:Like, this is the most features I did on.
Speaker A:On the album.
Speaker A:So I just wanted to do something different, you know, I'm saying, and reach out.
Speaker A:There's a lot of people that pull me aside.
Speaker A:It's like they want to hear me with this.
Speaker A:This person or that person, and I want to start displaying that, too.
Speaker A:That could adapt to other people's.
Speaker A:Even though it's my project, you know, it got to make sense as a sound.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:So this person over here, like mondo from Burn 1 Ent was on there.
Speaker A:He doesn't talk about none of this.
Speaker A:I talk about.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And we did a song, and it sounds like a song.
Speaker A:It sounds complete.
Speaker A:And we're like, it sounds.
Speaker A:I just wanted to display what I could do as an artist, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker B:Show that you're versatile.
Speaker B:Yeah, it don't matter.
Speaker B:You don't have to be stuck in a box.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's 14 songs and I don't feel like one.
Speaker A:It's probably like as transitions throughout, like maybe nine and 10 sound the same because it's turning down.
Speaker A:Or maybe three and four because it's turning up, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But like, as a whole, like, they're all so unique, you know what I mean?
Speaker A:I hope they answered the question.
Speaker D:Yeah, no, definitely.
Speaker D:And, and with that being said, how did the process working with them influence your approach to GSR going forward?
Speaker D:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Yeah, it just showed the possibilities of it, you know, and just everything's real professionally done.
Speaker A:It looks good and like, like, damn, it kind of with everything, it'll raise the bar for you next time.
Speaker A:It's like, damn.
Speaker A:Now it's gonna be the debut.
Speaker A:Not debut, but it's like I gotta follow up with my, my label produced album that gotta top this 14 Newt.
Speaker A:Like that's a lot.
Speaker A:Damn.
Speaker A:So it just raised, raised me to do better, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Push me to do better every time.
Speaker D:And the vision for GSR is that more of, you know, right now still solo focused, or are you looking into like trying to get some artists under, under the label?
Speaker A:Not, not really.
Speaker A:I haven't thought about that as far as other artists just, just solo because keep it a buck.
Speaker A:Like if somebody is working alongside that, I want them to be comfortable and happy and I ain't made it yet, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So I, I, I got all the show I got I gotta throw at me little breast so, you know, transparent.
Speaker A:We had not made it.
Speaker A:We have rap checks is not paid off.
Speaker A:But hey, it's, it's monthly now and it's took five years.
Speaker A:Like I was talking on the no Paperwork podcast.
Speaker A:I'm at a point now where it's monthly and these past couple months and it's been lovely, bro.
Speaker A:And it's like if it ain't a band of features, it's these people reaching out for a show.
Speaker A:It's a check from this or a check from that.
Speaker A:And it's, it's monthly now, bro.
Speaker A:And it's fruitful.
Speaker A:Starting to see the fruits of my labor, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:That's what keep you going, man.
Speaker B:Once you start, you in real time for sure.
Speaker D:That's when you know to Press the gas even harder.
Speaker D:Right?
Speaker D:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:We can get a taste of it.
Speaker C:But you're like, oh, no, I know where I can 10x this.
Speaker C:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:When that money start rolling in, you don't need nobody to tell you keep going.
Speaker B:Deposit in the bank account.
Speaker B:You're like, let's go.
Speaker B:Yeah, let's go.
Speaker D:No, so you got this one song, you know, Fire Bobby and Bibby.
Speaker D:I want to hear the backstory, bro.
Speaker C:You got to tell us.
Speaker A:Yeah, we was.
Speaker A:We was talking about this for the.
Speaker A:Before we started.
Speaker D:So.
Speaker A:People who haven't heard this song, it's one of my favorites as far as flow wise.
Speaker A:This go Ramo, he.
Speaker A:It's a producer out of Sacramento.
Speaker A:He.
Speaker A:He did a.
Speaker A:A album called Greatest Goat.
Speaker A:Greatest.
Speaker A:Greatest of all tapes.
Speaker A:And he was like, man, I want you guys on there.
Speaker A:Both y' all like, you guys, like dope together.
Speaker A:I want you guys on this.
Speaker A:Here's a beat and my boy who's on it too far.
Speaker A:2400 was handed away.
Speaker A:That's my dog.
Speaker A:It's like my brother, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:I don't go like a couple days without speaking to him.
Speaker A:And we're always like.
Speaker A:When I call him, like I was about to call you, or like I was just talking about you.
Speaker A:Just always on the same.
Speaker A:We all got.
Speaker A:Got those certain people.
Speaker A:We're on the same type of time.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So, like, we got the beat and we went our separate ways.
Speaker A:And then I think we linked up and we went.
Speaker A:Pulled up somewhere in front of a bar.
Speaker A:We didn't.
Speaker A:We thought we're gonna go have a couple drinks.
Speaker A:We didn't.
Speaker A:I put on Mac Dre 3C romp.
Speaker A:And while he smokes before we went inside, I think we ended up just staying in the car, just talking.
Speaker A:It don't matter where you go, where you folks with your folks went to a bars in the parking lot, didn't even walk inside.
Speaker A:And I'm.
Speaker A:I'm writing.
Speaker A:I could.
Speaker A:I usually see thou trips off the too because he's seen me do it.
Speaker A:I'll listen to a song that's on with and not a beat.
Speaker A:And I'll write.
Speaker A:I just X.
Speaker A:I'll just turn off the.
Speaker A:The.
Speaker A:Their tune out their.
Speaker A:Their vocals.
Speaker A:I was writing, right?
Speaker A:Like four, like eight bars to three C Romp Mac Dre.
Speaker A:And then I finished later.
Speaker A:And then I didn't show him what I was writing.
Speaker A:He didn't even Know, I was writing that song.
Speaker A:And then we get to the studio to finally record Bobby and Bibby and he's.
Speaker A:He.
Speaker A:He spit his verse.
Speaker A:He said something about Cadillac and.
Speaker A:And dawn and lines quoting the Kings.
Speaker A:And I'm like, what the.
Speaker A:I said something about a lack might see me in the bins, but I love lax and I'll never lack or some like that.
Speaker A:And then I.
Speaker A:I talking about certain two fold behind me like.
Speaker A:Like I can't remember the bars, but we gotta slap that shit.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:But I was saying Kings players and he was saying Kings players.
Speaker A:And we're on topic and we're looking at each other like, all right, cuz it's getting weird now.
Speaker A:Blair, what the is going on?
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But that's probably one of my most memorable moments recording throughout my whole career.
Speaker A:It's like we went our separate ways, came back, and we're on topic and the whole video is like Sacramento Kings thing week.
Speaker A:I was like, dam to go to the golden one and shoot, we went and I was trying to get the beam.
Speaker A:They lost that day.
Speaker A:God damn it, man.
Speaker D:Reality of being a Kings fan, bro.
Speaker A:For real.
Speaker A:They won the next day too.
Speaker A:It's like, damn, can't count on for real.
Speaker C:Now I got to pay a videographer twice as much.
Speaker A:I know.
Speaker A:I almost had the cameraman double back.
Speaker A:I think they gonna win tomorrow.
Speaker A:Just.
Speaker A:Just roll by.
Speaker A:Where you at?
Speaker A:You downtown?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:That's probably one of my most memorable moments because it's just so crazy, bro.
Speaker A:Like, it's when you come across moments like that, it's like, damn, I'm supposed to be doing this, you know, it feels good.
Speaker D:No, to take it farther back.
Speaker D:I just wanted to ask, like, what even got you into making music?
Speaker A:Just start with, I'm a music head.
Speaker A:I'm a music lover.
Speaker A:The same way people look.
Speaker A:I've never watched a show in my life.
Speaker A:I've tried and I can't finish them to get boring, you know?
Speaker A:I'm saying I've never finished the show.
Speaker A:So, like, just how people look at.
Speaker A:Oh, the new BMF is coming out.
Speaker A:I look at all 38 specials about the drop and what he's collabing with who.
Speaker A:So like, I'm a music head, bro, and I listen to it a week straight and try not to play too much around my daughter and my girl because you know, they'll be like, God damn, you play something else.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But just.
Speaker A:Just being a fan of music, first dissecting it.
Speaker A:I was probably like in middle school when I first started writing and just dissecting it, bro.
Speaker A:And I don't know what the inspired me to do it.
Speaker A:I was talking about that too in the last podcast.
Speaker A:Like when I was in middle school, I had an uncle in a neighborhood.
Speaker A:Santana is in a group called New Era.
Speaker A:Not a lot of people rap back then.
Speaker A:It did my brother, his mom's side, the Moreno's in the neighborhood.
Speaker A:They had a Moreno Jam Records.
Speaker A:I'll be in the studio where they record young like 12, 13.
Speaker A:So I was always around me and I don't know what I can't tell you, bro.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:I was just dissecting the music.
Speaker A:And one day I bought tear gas album in 09, the jacket album from a store Dimples Sack and went home playing that over and over.
Speaker A:And I started writing whenever the jack wrote.
Speaker A:And then I realized, oh, that's 16, that's a verse and oh, eight is a hook which is four loop.
Speaker A:Oh, he gets away with 12 sometimes.
Speaker A:And then I taught myself how to count bars, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And I don't know what the motivated me to do that, bro.
Speaker A:I couldn't tell you.
Speaker A:Just.
Speaker A:Just being a fan of music and dissecting the life like I listen to music, I could ride around that.
Speaker A:Just a saxophone type, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And just dissecting the music, bro.
Speaker A:And just.
Speaker A:I don't know what did it.
Speaker A:I knew when I was young I want to do something involving music, whether it be somebody doing shows behind closed doors or producing.
Speaker A:But I didn't.
Speaker A:I didn't know I was gonna be rapping, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But here I am.
Speaker B:Oh, that's meant to be.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker B:That's just crazy how you say you could write to a song.
Speaker C:That'S craz.
Speaker A:He's like, what do you do if it's like too too fast like the one.
Speaker A:You're right.
Speaker A:And I was like, just slow it down what you're saying.
Speaker A:Take out a couple words sometimes like because you hear the same.
Speaker A:And I don't got the luxury of time to leave and come back the next day with a new ear.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know I'm saying I'm trying to knock this out.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:Let me.
Speaker A:If I'm at stuck, let me hear something that.
Speaker A:That might influence me and put some new risk of factor on or something or some new.
Speaker A:The music puts new burn on, you know?
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Gonna catch that vibe and I'll just speed it up.
Speaker A:Maybe you add in of the or of and make it the bar a little longer, so fit the.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's what I do.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker B:Like you're doing a verse for someone or something.
Speaker B:I just be like, hey, mute that.
Speaker B:Just play the beat key, girl.
Speaker C:I can't focus.
Speaker A:But yeah, sometimes just hearing that same beat as it gets repetitive and you get like, you know, starting to feel like work.
Speaker A:It's a little dull.
Speaker A:And then it's like, damn, this beat ain't as tight as I thought it was.
Speaker A:He heard it for two hours trying to write like that.
Speaker A:Nah.
Speaker C:So wait, I gotta know.
Speaker C:Are you like, you'll go to a totally different like, bpm or does it have to be a song like, no.
Speaker A:I don't gotta be the same.
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker A:Like I wanna write crazy.
Speaker A:Hell no.
Speaker A:That's true.
Speaker A:Imagine like when you.
Speaker A:If you're writing and then he's trying to scroll through to find the same bpm.
Speaker A:Nah, I'm just playing.
Speaker C:I know, but just like, oh, you know, you hear that, you be like, oh, this is like similar to this song.
Speaker C:Like you can hear like similar.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's why.
Speaker C:That's crazy though.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:It's a technique of mine.
Speaker A:I.
Speaker A:I don't suggest it to nobody.
Speaker B:Nobody trying to start out rapping.
Speaker C:That's just my style.
Speaker A:This is what I had to be.
Speaker D:The madness for real facts.
Speaker B:I mean, that just goes to show you.
Speaker B:I mean, give people a look on the inside and like, what the hell is even going through your mind when you're making music?
Speaker B:Which is dope, bro.
Speaker A:Yeah, sure.
Speaker D:And cuz it's like everybody's approach is different, bro.
Speaker D:Like some people go words first.
Speaker D:Some people go melody first.
Speaker D:Like some people go, like, some people beat first.
Speaker D:Some people like don't even have the.
Speaker C:Beat by the time they had the whole song written.
Speaker A:And for me it's like different every time, bro.
Speaker A:Like, like I.
Speaker A:I could be too busy and I haven't written and I've wrote the song.
Speaker A:So it be like I said, I forced my hand, like, type.
Speaker A:I booked a session because I knew I needed to do a song and I didn't have it written yet.
Speaker A:And I've been so busy.
Speaker A:Life, we life.
Speaker A:And you know what I'm saying, I'm on my way there.
Speaker A:I'm like, damn, bro, you hungry?
Speaker A:Let's put over E.
Speaker A:I gotta write this anyways.
Speaker A:We're 20 minutes away went, got some food as I'm writing, get there songs done.
Speaker A:Other cases, when I did the nor, I, I.
Speaker A:I got all the beats first, went home, put my headphones in, and I wrote a notebook or, like, handwritten track one.
Speaker A:And when I pulled up, knocked out seven songs in a day.
Speaker A:And all of it was pre.
Speaker A:Not mixing, like, in the booth.
Speaker A:Next one.
Speaker A:Next one just was in the booth.
Speaker A:For how long?
Speaker A:Probably like an hour, 30 minutes on the.
Speaker A:But it's all different, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's whatever makes sense within that.
Speaker A:Within that time.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker B:Whatever feels good, makes you.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Make that most authentic sound.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:When I first started rapping, bro, it's crazy.
Speaker A: e Road Running album I did in: Speaker A:And I thought that's how, like, you do it.
Speaker A:Because, like, my boy her was like, yeah, it's good.
Speaker A:Just pull up to the studio and I'll cook it right there for you.
Speaker A:And I'm like, all right.
Speaker A:I guess that's what they do.
Speaker A:So I'm literally right into hi hats and.
Speaker A:And bass lines as he's building the beat.
Speaker A:And by the time he's done with the beat, I'm done with my verse type.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:So it's all.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's so many ways to do it, bro.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker D:And then that's like how a lot of people work nowadays.
Speaker D:So it's good that you built that muscle early and you're able to.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's like I was starting off without a beat.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker B:That's crazy.
Speaker A:What the.
Speaker D:Because think about a lot of these kids who start off, bro, like, riding in the room, and then they come into situation where they're like.
Speaker D:They pull up on Truly Goony.
Speaker D:And he said, hey, hop on the song.
Speaker D:You know, a lot of them, they.
Speaker C:Can'T write in, you know, 30 minutes or a few minutes.
Speaker A:That's how I knew I was gifted, though, bro, is when I first came out and all these people reaching out, trying to collab.
Speaker A:And I'll be in the studio, right?
Speaker A:And not to put no names out there, but we'd be recording this, and it'd be like, this dude was a big guy.
Speaker A:This guy is big known, and they've been rapping way longer than me.
Speaker A:I'm like, six months in, and the beat comes on.
Speaker A:I'm like, all right, for sure.
Speaker A:I'm done with my, like, 15 minutes and is like, you're done?
Speaker A:I'm like, yeah.
Speaker A:Get to recording this.
Speaker A:Did one take.
Speaker A:What the.
Speaker A:And then like I said there like damn hours and people were like recording this.
Speaker A:Like, damn.
Speaker A:I didn't know people take so long.
Speaker A:It sounds so good that engineers.
Speaker A:You would never know.
Speaker A:Like a video though.
Speaker A:You look at a real professional video, that should probably take all day sometimes.
Speaker D:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:A full treatment.
Speaker D:Sometimes they're writing it for three different days.
Speaker C:Different locations every day.
Speaker C:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Yeah, I can't wait to get into that.
Speaker A:That's crazy.
Speaker A:I'm gonna get a camera, bro.
Speaker A:And I want to do some storyline.
Speaker A:I wanna just capture moments for personal.
Speaker A:I really want to get into that camera thing.
Speaker A:We was talking about that before we started.
Speaker A:It's a rabbit hole, bro.
Speaker A:No, definitely the lenses to this.
Speaker A:That.
Speaker D:It's just.
Speaker D:There's so much.
Speaker D:The brands.
Speaker D:Everybody has a different preference on brands, but not even that.
Speaker D:It's just also so much to even look into.
Speaker A:It looks like one of those things, bro.
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker A:Like you look around one day, it's like, how the did I get here?
Speaker A:And you spend how much money on what?
Speaker A:Yeah, and I was like, I'm kind of scared to get into it.
Speaker A:Kind of.
Speaker A:I don't want to look around.
Speaker A:I got $10,000 equipment.
Speaker A:And I'm just, just, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Cuz I was looking at that Amazon list with the cart.
Speaker A:I'm like, oh, damn, what the am I doing?
Speaker A:Who am I?
Speaker A:Who am I?
Speaker A:But no, I want to get into that too.
Speaker D:You should, bro.
Speaker B:I mean, I can't wait to see what.
Speaker B:What you're gonna do with all that, bro.
Speaker A:Hell yeah.
Speaker A:And like I'm so hands on with everything.
Speaker A:I do my graphics and everything, bro.
Speaker A:So like my album work.
Speaker A:This is the.
Speaker A:The list.
Speaker A:This last album, I didn't do that.
Speaker A:Chris Anthony did, but I did the.
Speaker A:The back.
Speaker A:The track list.
Speaker A:I did all.
Speaker A:I do all my singles, everything.
Speaker B:So what do you make them on?
Speaker B:Like this?
Speaker A:Just canvas.
Speaker A:15.99amonth.
Speaker A:What I do is formulate it is real easy.
Speaker A:So people that don't want to spend 50, $60 for every song you do for a cover.
Speaker A:I get the video done and then I'll skim through the video once I get it back from the videographer, Screenshot something from the video.
Speaker A:Keep some fonts that you like to the side or name, write them down, keep them in your notes or something and just ain't, bro.
Speaker A:Put the little parental adversary thing in the corner.
Speaker A:Put my Logo in there and everyone the name of it and throw some effects on it.
Speaker A:Nowadays, bro, you don't even gotta do all that.
Speaker A:People drop an album cover with like no words, no nothing.
Speaker A:It's just a picture.
Speaker A:Like so that's what I did with the last album was G.
Speaker A:It was just my side of my face throwing at the G.
Speaker A:Just like a professional ass dope.
Speaker A:Like wide angle, focal length lens.
Speaker A:It got the environment, parking, the turf and it's just logo on the side.
Speaker A:Boom.
Speaker A:Done.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I like.
Speaker A:All I had to do is get that from the A photographer throwing my logo in there and it's done.
Speaker D:And I kind of like that now.
Speaker D:I kind of like clean people do like that, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:Rather than.
Speaker A:The reason why I do that too is because I eventually want to get some vinyls, like collectibles and, and sound like we sign them and sell them.
Speaker A:But just to have just imagine like your own studio room and like Viny.
Speaker A:Everything is like hella professionally done.
Speaker A:Not like no 30 cover that you had this guy doing.
Speaker A:It just looks crazy.
Speaker D:Like.
Speaker A:Yeah, you just get a professional that costs five honey for that photo.
Speaker A:When I did that photo shoot, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So like that is like gonna be timeless when I have it like up on the walls, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:Oh, definitely.
Speaker A:Hell yeah.
Speaker D:It also like, it's kind of like intentionally minimalist in a sense.
Speaker D:Like sometimes you.
Speaker D:You see some of these like busier album artworks and it's just like.
Speaker D:Yeah, you know, you know, it's not.
Speaker C:Something you're just bound to click on.
Speaker C:I don't know.
Speaker C:But you see a picture and it like piques your interest.
Speaker C:I' ma click on it.
Speaker C:I don't know about you, you guys, I remember Nip.
Speaker A:I remember Nipsey talking about he was feeling some type of way.
Speaker A:He did one album when it was red and then he was like, there's a reason behind everything.
Speaker A:Red is the most eye catching color.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Like it's a stop sign, red light.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So yeah, there's.
Speaker A:You got to go with that eye catching too.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It's a lot that goes into it.
Speaker A:It's content.
Speaker D:No, for sure.
Speaker D:And you could even go into it with businesses and like you'll notice most like major fast food, restauran, major corporations will have base colors of red and yellow because they're eye catching.
Speaker D:It's like psychological marketing and shit.
Speaker D:Like that.
Speaker D:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:You look at like Wendy's, McDonald's, like all these in and out, all of them, they have red and yellow because it's gonna stand out to you.
Speaker A:Every color got its own.
Speaker A:Like, what it does to you psychologically.
Speaker A:Like, I think blue, like, is warmth and comforting.
Speaker A:I want y' all to worry about nothing.
Speaker A:So I.
Speaker A:I'm good.
Speaker A:But, like, it all goes into place.
Speaker A:It's deeper than what, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:The surface.
Speaker D:Nah, definitely talking about a little more about the gear.
Speaker D:What.
Speaker D:What are you kind of looking forward into?
Speaker D:Are you just gonna, you know, get into music videos or do you also want to get into like, more content behind the scenes type stuff?
Speaker D:More access for your fans?
Speaker A:That too, because with the music videos, with YouTube copyright claiming the music, even though I'm getting them, I'm still getting my money, but my copyright that I do is claiming it from my YouTube.
Speaker A:Yeah, but like the vlogs is like, I'm getting money for that, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So, like, I want to get into more vlogs behind the scenes, put my personality more out there and get into that.
Speaker A:Get into maybe some behind the scenes shows or something like that.
Speaker A:I think that'll be dope for people to see.
Speaker A:I remember back in the day, like, we'll see interviews of people fresh off the stage.
Speaker A:Like, you never seen that?
Speaker A:Like that?
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:More so, like TV days.
Speaker A:And yeah, like, I'd want to bring a camera, just sue my.
Speaker A:My little brother a dollar or something, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And have a tag along, bruh.
Speaker A:It's like I'm saying you can't just be hanging around.
Speaker A:I put in the pot, bro.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But I'm doing like that, you know, and, and just capturing like we're talking about earlier, like, if I go on a trip with my daughter, capturing that, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Just personal stuff.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:And nowadays, like, it's.
Speaker A:It's all reals.
Speaker A:And I probably won't even post half the.
Speaker A:On YouTube.
Speaker A:Probably just be an IG reels or YouTube shorts or something like that, you know, everything's content based, bro.
Speaker A:It's a trip.
Speaker A:Because I know you kind of have to be a content creator to make music and that's.
Speaker D:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:So irritating.
Speaker A:I'm the type of person you can.
Speaker A:I'm never sad on Instagram.
Speaker A:You can't figure out if I'm mad.
Speaker A:So a lot of people were just hard on their sleeve on the gram.
Speaker A:Or try to figure out people through Instagram.
Speaker A:And it's like, it's not that serious to me.
Speaker A:Like, if I didn't make music, I probably would not have an Instagram, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But people would just be calling me through Instagram like, what the is wrong with you?
Speaker A:Think you could just call.
Speaker A:To think that you could just call somebody and they're just gonna answer and.
Speaker C:Be like, hey, what's up, bro?
Speaker A:I had to turn my.
Speaker A:But I had to turn my.
Speaker A:This is real.
Speaker A:But like, I had to turn my Instagram notifications off.
Speaker A:And then like, bro, you can't just call me bro.
Speaker C:This is crazy.
Speaker A:Pretty face 408 underscore.
Speaker A:Who's that?
Speaker A:I don't know, babe, I swear to God.
Speaker A:Calling me or like, you know, man, that's crazy.
Speaker A:I don't know how we got on that, but that's real.
Speaker A:That's crazy.
Speaker A:Crazy.
Speaker A:I don't.
Speaker A:With that social media.
Speaker A:I turned it off, bruh.
Speaker A:Can't do it.
Speaker A:But that's gonna be.
Speaker C:That's gotta be tough though, if you're.
Speaker D:Like, not inherently that person who.
Speaker A:Yeah, it sucks, bro.
Speaker A:It sucks because I gotta get out of my comfort zone all the time.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It's like I.
Speaker A:I don't ever think to be on my phone like that, but you know, it's.
Speaker A:I'll get it.
Speaker A:Yeah, I'll get it down.
Speaker C:You'll look back, like in a few years, you're gonna look back and be like, like, so content minded.
Speaker C:Like, you're gonna be like, oh, let.
Speaker D:Me get my phone out.
Speaker C:Let me get this out today, bro.
Speaker A:I'm his husband, on the way over here, he was like, I can't tell if these as content creators are gangsters.
Speaker A:And I'm like, damn, say that's that.
Speaker A:I don't want to lose no stripes, dumbass.
Speaker A:On a black out there with a selfie stick blade.
Speaker A:That's crazy.
Speaker A:It's gonna be a trend transition, bro.
Speaker A:You know, we trying to be here for the long run, you know, and it sucks though.
Speaker C:But that's like, you look at it.
Speaker D:From every facet, every industry, like, to be a successful entrepreneur right now, you.
Speaker C:You might not need like great social media presence, but you need a little.
Speaker D:Bit of social media Internet presence if.
Speaker C:You want to be successful, if you want to stick with people, if you.
Speaker D:Want people emotionally tied to your brand or whatever it is, you have to give them a little bit of access to.
Speaker A:To you yeah.
Speaker D:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:And it's, it sucks because yeah.
Speaker D:For people who aren't inherently that way, it's like, it's like, damn, I have to get out of my comfort zone.
Speaker D:But if you want to do like we think of that too.
Speaker D:Like, damn.
Speaker D:We don't want to have to be like all like on camera all the time.
Speaker D:But at the same time, if you, if we actually want to do this, we have to do things that are going to funnel attention into this.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker D:That's the social media.
Speaker D:That's the, you know, things of that nature which vlogs other videos too.
Speaker D:So I feel like it's a, it's a battle.
Speaker A:What was your guys experiences like?
Speaker A:Were you guys heavy on.
Speaker A:On.
Speaker A:Was it like a transition or, or.
Speaker B:It was hard, bro.
Speaker B:I mean we were recording ourselves for.
Speaker A:But I remember even telling you like you're.
Speaker B:When I first met you, I was like.
Speaker B:Because I, I was like.
Speaker A:You thought I had it down, huh?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker D:I swear to God.
Speaker B:So hearing you say that, it's like, okay, like yeah, makes sense now.
Speaker D:But.
Speaker B:And yeah, when you were just saying I'll just do it, make myself do it.
Speaker B:It's the same thing.
Speaker A:And like, oh, and I was telling you too might help some people is like a lot of schedules is posted, posts are scheduled.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So like I was scheduled post, bro.
Speaker A:Cause I'm out doing my thing.
Speaker A:My thing.
Speaker A:And I don't gotta worry about pulling out my phone.
Speaker A:And like, you know, it's five o' clock.
Speaker A:I schedule reels all day.
Speaker A:So I don't really gotta be in my phone.
Speaker A:People might think, think like some.
Speaker A:That's what I hate about social media too.
Speaker A:It'll open up conversations.
Speaker A:Like you'll post something and somebody.
Speaker A:You think they'll just start a fake combo and yeah.
Speaker A:Oh, like that's crazy.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker A:You was eating there too.
Speaker A:And I'm like, bro, what the damn, I sound big at it, bro.
Speaker A:Me and my cousin was saying the same.
Speaker A:This like just literally like two nights ago talking about social media.
Speaker A:It's like it.
Speaker A:He, he said I'm not going on no social media.
Speaker A:Like I'm not with it all this going on.
Speaker A:I'm cool.
Speaker A:And then he was like.
Speaker A:And it opens up conversations.
Speaker A:And I was like, what you mean?
Speaker A:Like you'll post something and then people would think it's okay to message you?
Speaker A:Or like I like just comment like, like hey, hit me back.
Speaker A:Or like just call me.
Speaker A:Or like you know what I'm saying?
Speaker B:Like, people will post.
Speaker A:Yeah, people post on.
Speaker A:On their story.
Speaker A:Like, man, I love my bro, you to pass death.
Speaker A:Like, why don't you just tell that man, Bro, tell that man.
Speaker A:Give him a call.
Speaker B:Pick up the phone.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's my pet peeve.
Speaker B:If you, if you text someone something that you could just call real quick and be like, yeah, hey, real fast.
Speaker B:And you went like, oh, what they say I'm still waiting on for.
Speaker A:And people take things so personable too.
Speaker A:Like, like, if you like, damn, I got to shout y.
Speaker A:For your birthday.
Speaker A:I can't find a pig.
Speaker A:I'm driving right now, bro.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:You tell me.
Speaker A:I'll be.
Speaker A:Birthday, birthday.
Speaker A:I'm here at your birthday party.
Speaker A:But, you know, people see them numbers and, yeah, see, on the other side of them, they see them numbers, they just want some followers.
Speaker D:And I feel like it's depending on the person too.
Speaker D:Like, you said you're.
Speaker D:If you weren't doing music, you wouldn't be in social media that much.
Speaker D:Like, yeah, before this, I wasn't on social media at all.
Speaker D:I might have posted once every two years or something.
Speaker D:Like, you know, I'd be like, scrolling or something.
Speaker D:But I'm not.
Speaker D:I wasn't posting, I wasn't interacting.
Speaker D:And so now doing this, it's like I kind of have to get out of my comfort zone, kind of respond to people.
Speaker D:Hey, oh, yeah, thanks for checking it out.
Speaker C:All this type of stuff that I wasn't doing before, you know, even, like, paying attention to, like, how we have to post on this or, like, do.
Speaker D:Reels and like, you know, shorts and things of that nature from the longer form content.
Speaker D:It's like.
Speaker D:And also, I don't like doing this.
Speaker E:Just being also just being posted every single, like, every single day.
Speaker E:Just like being able to look at yourself in that light.
Speaker E:Like when you.
Speaker E:Yeah, like when you just kind of.
Speaker E:When you are also on the other side too, when you're just like not being posted, you're just, you know, watching, you're scrolling, you're all that stuff going on.
Speaker E:But it's just different just being in this.
Speaker E:This light.
Speaker E:Like almost every other day, just being posted, the thumbnails, the this, the that.
Speaker B:I'm like, damn, everybody gonna get tired of seeing.
Speaker E:Yeah.
Speaker B:He posting again.
Speaker D:Exactly.
Speaker D:So for us coming from, like, nothing.
Speaker C:To, like, all this, it's like it.
Speaker D:Feels like too much.
Speaker D:It feels like it's easy to doubt yourself and be like, take anything.
Speaker D:Is like, oh, shit.
Speaker C:Well, this isn't performing like the other ones do.
Speaker C:We should just not post it as much because ultimately you have to keep posting if you want to funnel.
Speaker C:The taxi is key, though.
Speaker E:We just got to keep pushing forward.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker E:And really, ultimately, just getting over that hump of just realistically, who gives a fuck what people think?
Speaker A:Yeah, that's what I was at, too.
Speaker A:Like, I think one of the pivotal moments.
Speaker A:I can't remember what stage I was at that, but I think it might have been starting rap.
Speaker A:It's like, bro, I don't want to be no rap.
Speaker A:I was kind of peer pressured into it, man.
Speaker A:Like, my boy was like, man, I'll pay for your studio time.
Speaker A:Like, you gotta go.
Speaker A:And then you're at a point where, like, you kind of concerned about what people think of you, what people say.
Speaker A:But then I went.
Speaker A:I was at a point where I.
Speaker A:Going through too much in life, like, to give a.
Speaker A:About any.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:So, like, you got to get over that, too.
Speaker A:It's like, if you care about what people think about you, I'll be seeing some crazy comments, and some of it's funny.
Speaker A:Some of them be getting close.
Speaker A:Like, oh, how they know that now?
Speaker A:Some of it is way out.
Speaker A:Like, what the are they talking about?
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But it's like, if you're worried about that, this ain't for you.
Speaker B:There's always gonna be people saying something.
Speaker D:Especially if you're putting yourself out there on a platter for people to, like, put out their opinion, you know, in music and podcasting, whatever it is, if you're putting yourself out, you know, for people to enjoy.
Speaker D:You also have to be realistic that.
Speaker C:Some people aren't going to enjoy.
Speaker A:You know, one time, one time somebody tried to insult me with.
Speaker A:Because in the last interview I did.
Speaker A:Or not the last one, but the for the Soul podcast, I was talking about how I grew up in, like, every neighborhood in Sacramento.
Speaker A:And not every neighborhood, that sounds crazy, but a lot of neighborhoods, like, from good and bad.
Speaker A:And then they sent me something, somebody I don't get along with to Instagram.
Speaker A:They was trying to trigger something.
Speaker A:They was like, what are you.
Speaker A:You out there in atomics with your dad or something?
Speaker A:I was like, damn, you had to watch the interview.
Speaker A:Just keep watching.
Speaker C:Exactly.
Speaker C:It's like, nobody's watching you, Doug.
Speaker C:So you know that.
Speaker A:Yeah, I am.
Speaker D:Like, what do you want to do?
Speaker C:Exactly.
Speaker C:Be stressing.
Speaker B:Watching my video, this guy.
Speaker B:I'm still like it, though.
Speaker A:God damn it.
Speaker B:No it's funny.
Speaker B:One of the first.
Speaker B:On the first season we did.
Speaker B:I forget what the.
Speaker B:We were talking about.
Speaker B:We were talking on, like, British food or some.
Speaker B:And they were just.
Speaker B:Bro, we were talking about this man in the comic.
Speaker B:Accents are.
Speaker C:This dude said, how could you take somebody serious if they got a knife?
Speaker C:And then he said.
Speaker B:Commenting from, like, the UK or whatever, and they're like, you wouldn't last a day in the trenches out here.
Speaker A:Real talk.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Not to put that out in the universe, but I'd rather get shot than stabbed.
Speaker A:They ride around on scooters with bouncing out sticky.
Speaker C:No, exactly.
Speaker C:We were, like, joking around, though.
Speaker C:Like, so it wasn't like, if you would have watched the whole conversation, you would have saw.
Speaker C:But it was a real.
Speaker C:So, yeah, basically gets to the U.S.
Speaker E:It was like, damn near.
Speaker A:That's another thing, too, though.
Speaker A:Like, with this camera rolling like that.
Speaker A:I'm never talking about politics or never talking about religion.
Speaker A:There's somebody out there.
Speaker A:And that's another thing I never thought about until I talk about is like, somebody's like, culture.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It's like.
Speaker A:Like somebody's gonna really disagree passionately.
Speaker A:Not like you.
Speaker A:And disagree what you're saying.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:So, like, what the.
Speaker A:I look like cutting whole factor.
Speaker A:Possible supporters, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Or potential supporters.
Speaker A:Because I'm talking about making fun.
Speaker A:Making fun of somebody's accent.
Speaker A:That's hella funny.
Speaker C:But that's the thing, too.
Speaker C:But at the same time, the people, they like, people like you for, like, what it is that you're like.
Speaker C:You know, your sense of humor, what things like that.
Speaker C:So to some people, that's, like, totally unserious.
Speaker C:They think it's funny.
Speaker C:But to others, they're like, like, bro, you really think we're soft?
Speaker D:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:And we're like.
Speaker C:But we're making fun of your accent.
Speaker C:We're not really thinking you guys are soft.
Speaker C:We understand, like, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But hella randomly.
Speaker A:I was at the park, bruh.
Speaker A:My girl and my daughter, and I was like, you ever heard of a German sneeze?
Speaker A:She said, no.
Speaker A:I was like, I sneak something.
Speaker A:I see like, some clip and so.
Speaker D:Stole the joke.
Speaker A:Little buddy.
Speaker A:Yeah, you got to be careful what you say on here, man.
Speaker A:Just dissecting that.
Speaker C:No, for sure, bro.
Speaker D:We.
Speaker C:So we've all had a clip where people have passionately disagreed with us.
Speaker C:Like, this fool had that one, or he also had one where he said he hated Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool and people came for his hand.
Speaker E:Ryan Reynolds wasn't.
Speaker C:Wasn't funny.
Speaker C:People came for his head.
Speaker C:He said something about.
Speaker C:He said I hate ugly people.
Speaker C:And people ugly in the comments thinking the same thing as I was re watching this or something.
Speaker C:The funniest moment.
Speaker C:Somebody's like the craziest part is I was totally agreeing with this video but I noticed it was cuz I was looking at the ugly person.
Speaker C:And it's funny to us cuz like, like we talked about this with Splash too, bro.
Speaker C:It's funny to us cuz like I mean the same way we joke about people.
Speaker C:We're not taking it serious or be like, man, really?
Speaker C:That we're just like, like you know, it's a joke.
Speaker B:Got me right there.
Speaker C:Yeah, he got me.
Speaker A:That's hella.
Speaker E:There's people that would be hella passive.
Speaker E:Like they'll like comment something just to be passive.
Speaker E:Like just say some just to just like comment it.
Speaker E:Like the point of which commenting something.
Speaker C:Passive as with this dude made a joke.
Speaker C:So he said something about homeless people begging on the side of the road.
Speaker C:He said I need help too.
Speaker C:Like joking around though.
Speaker C:But he was just saying that because like we.
Speaker C:We drove by, there was just like a group of like people who were.
Speaker C:They clearly probably had a house or whatever, but they were just like asking.
Speaker D:For money or whatever.
Speaker D:And he was just like I need help too.
Speaker C:Like as a joke.
Speaker C:And somebody came back and like just wrote a whole think piece about like homelessness.
Speaker C:And it's like we weren't really talking about politics or like our feelings on homelessness.
Speaker C:Like he was just joking around.
Speaker A:Like people got a lot of time, bro.
Speaker A:Yeah, they'll write a whole.
Speaker A:It look like it looks like a description of a movie and you're in your comment section.
Speaker C:Especially if it's something that they disagree.
Speaker B:With that right there.
Speaker B:Proofreaded it and everything.
Speaker C:And then it sucks doing this too because you're like, you got a camera on you, you're saying all this stuff on like wax.
Speaker C:And then a year later, like we were talking all this about Tyrese Halverton and how Fox is way better.
Speaker C:We're lucky we kept Fox and.
Speaker C:And now, now look at him.
Speaker C:He's in.
Speaker B:Now we don't got Fox and he's in the finals.
Speaker C:Yeah, he's in the finals.
Speaker C:Bunch of buzzer beaters.
Speaker C:So we even, even post like, like that, like, oh, that didn't age well, you know, because like damn, it catches you up.
Speaker C:You know, whether it's Good, Bad, ugly.
Speaker C:Whatever it is.
Speaker C:It's.
Speaker C:You're on camera, bro.
Speaker B:So I need to get better about that.
Speaker B:I have a couple drinks, I start saying whatever.
Speaker A:Y' all drink on here, too, sometimes.
Speaker D:Usually we do.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Y' all wasn't with me today, though.
Speaker B:No, no, I'm not drinking right now.
Speaker D:Yeah, so them two, they weren't drinking.
Speaker D:But also, it usually depends if, like, if somebody requests it or something.
Speaker D:Something.
Speaker D:They're like, hey, can we drink?
Speaker D:Yeah, we're gonna do it.
Speaker D:But for some people, we.
Speaker A:It is only like, what, 4pm When I pulled up?
Speaker B:Yeah, we started earlier.
Speaker B:I mean, this for already.
Speaker D:No.
Speaker C:So it usually depends, like, if that's.
Speaker D:The vibes, for sure.
Speaker D:But, you know, sometimes, you know, I'll double back, man.
Speaker A:I'll double back with a bottle.
Speaker B:I'm just on a little hiatus right now.
Speaker D:I know.
Speaker A:First week talking about getting my personality out there.
Speaker A:Y' all gonna see.
Speaker C:We gotta do that then, because we gotta.
Speaker A:Was off.
Speaker A:Priv do like, what they call that one podcast Drink champs they get.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's a hell of a marketing strategy.
Speaker A:Like that.
Speaker A:Like that one show where they do the Hot Wings, and they asking you hella quest.
Speaker A:They.
Speaker A:The.
Speaker A:The questions get more complex, and then it gets hotter, and then you being drunk on that pocket.
Speaker A:Like, bro, people are smart, man.
Speaker C:Definitely not a hot one.
Speaker B:Is hella funny.
Speaker B:I'll be watching that.
Speaker B:They're thinking.
Speaker B:They're thinking.
Speaker B:They're like, my mouth.
Speaker A:Hey, what's that movie brought you remember that movie, Bryce Maze?
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:The girl who's getting married in that movie, she was on that.
Speaker A:The Hot Wings one, right?
Speaker A:And she was like, I'm gonna need you to do me a favor.
Speaker A:He asked a question.
Speaker A:She's like, what?
Speaker A:He said, what?
Speaker A:He's like, I'm gonna need you to shut the up.
Speaker D:I can't think straight.
Speaker A:Hey, real talk.
Speaker A:I was.
Speaker A:I used to really watch a lot of those.
Speaker A:Those.
Speaker A:The high wing show.
Speaker A:We got to get a bottle next time, though, man.
Speaker A:What you guys drink?
Speaker D:No, definitely.
Speaker A:What type of.
Speaker A:Usually you drink the regular Henny.
Speaker A:Huh?
Speaker A:You drink the.
Speaker A:The.
Speaker A:The Privilege or the other one?
Speaker B:I do either.
Speaker B:Really.
Speaker B:We've been on Dove, and if they don't got do say, then we'll grab a bottle of Honey.
Speaker A:My girl put me on do say.
Speaker A:That's crazy.
Speaker A:Just think, I got a girl that drink D.
Speaker A:She's a.
Speaker A:She's a hog for that.
Speaker A:She ain't drinking in a minute, though.
Speaker A:I got her on PR Privilege and I should drink nothing but privilege for years.
Speaker A:But I.
Speaker A:I transferred over to whiskey this past, like, year I was with.
Speaker A:I'll tell you what, man.
Speaker A:It's not easy.
Speaker A:It's unpredictable, as kind of.
Speaker A:That's why I don't like tequila, because I can't, like, time it and.
Speaker A:But I was out drinking with my aunt.
Speaker D:There.
Speaker A:Is that a time where nothing's open.
Speaker A:All the liquor stores is closed, and.
Speaker A:And he was like, I got this whiskey.
Speaker A:I'm like, man, this month, showing your age.
Speaker A:And I was like, let me try that.
Speaker A:I ended up liking that.
Speaker A:So what kind of whiskey was it?
Speaker A:I don't know what he had.
Speaker A:I don't.
Speaker A:It's some purple label.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker B:I remember one time I had my fake ID when I was in college, and then I went to some random bar out there.
Speaker B:I was like, give me.
Speaker B:Give me some good off, like, nights.
Speaker B:I don't know what good is.
Speaker B:I'm Dr.
Speaker B:Getting smear knobs and beers, and they brought me, like, some expensive whiskey.
Speaker B:And I say, expensive for me at the time.
Speaker B:Like, 50 bucks, 40 bucks.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker B:As a college kid, I was hella broke.
Speaker B:But then they're like.
Speaker B:They don't give me no chase.
Speaker B:They didn't mix it with nothing.
Speaker B:I was like, what am I supposed to.
Speaker B:They're like, oh, drink it with water.
Speaker B:It brings out the taste dream, but that brings out that nasty at, like, people like that.
Speaker B:But I didn't.
Speaker A:I was like, yeah, well, whiskey is with time, like, when the ice melts, it gets a little.
Speaker A:I like the taste of it.
Speaker A:But I'm an animal, though.
Speaker A:I could drink privilege, like, with no fucking chaser type shit.
Speaker A:I can't.
Speaker A:I could drink whiskey, bro.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:See, I'm so used to cognac at this point.
Speaker C:Even last night, we went to the.
Speaker D:Giants game, and I ordered a whiskey and Coke because they didn't have no cognac.
Speaker D:I got, like, a Jim Bean and Coke.
Speaker D:And, bro, I was like, halfway through.
Speaker C:It, and I looked at this.
Speaker C:I was like, I'm gonna call it.
Speaker C:I'm gonna call it quits for the night.
Speaker C:I was like, this tastes like ass.
Speaker D:I can do crown.
Speaker A:It depends on what you get.
Speaker B:I do crown royal.
Speaker B:Is that.
Speaker B:Ain't that whiskey?
Speaker D:Yeah, but that's the thing is, like, I.
Speaker D:I don't know.
Speaker D:I.
Speaker D:I'd never had Jim Bean, so.
Speaker D:So it wasn't for me.
Speaker D:I wasn't.
Speaker D:Jim Beam was rough.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker D:It was strong.
Speaker D:I was like, nah, I'M cool.
Speaker B:I got these fools on.
Speaker B:On the cognac hype a few years back.
Speaker B:They were drinking Captain Morgan for the longest time.
Speaker D:No, that's c.
Speaker D:We were.
Speaker C:We were.
Speaker C:We were broke.
Speaker C:It's different.
Speaker A:We were in college, bro.
Speaker A:You guys was in college together?
Speaker A:That's how y' all know each other?
Speaker B:Yeah, we went to high school together.
Speaker B:And then me, this school.
Speaker A:These.
Speaker B:Us three.
Speaker B:And then our other homie, we all moved out to Hayward and went to Eastbourne Day.
Speaker A:Oh, damn.
Speaker B:And then they went to.
Speaker B:They took off and went to Fullerton in la.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's what's up, man.
Speaker B:But I remember I went down one time.
Speaker B:I ain't seen him in a few years, and I'm like, where's the alcohol at?
Speaker B:They pull out a handle of cap.
Speaker C:We had that good $16 handle, bro.
Speaker C:It's like, now I can get the bottles, bro.
Speaker E:But after working was cheap.
Speaker A:I fell out of place, man.
Speaker A:I graduated continuation school in high school and with 30 people, y' all went to college.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker B:I've known this since.
Speaker B:Played baseball and back.
Speaker B:Back in the day.
Speaker D:Yeah, we play like T ball and against each other and.
Speaker D:And same with him.
Speaker D:Like, we played baseball again against him.
Speaker D:Same with him.
Speaker D:He was a little older than us, but we.
Speaker D:Like.
Speaker D:I played baseball against him when I was younger, so, like, we all grew up, elementary school type.
Speaker A:That's how it should be, bro.
Speaker A:Most of people I hang out with is family, but if it ain't, ain't.
Speaker A:It's like long history like that.
Speaker A:That's how it should be.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Oh, yeah, that's dope, man.
Speaker A:I'm glad I came to this location, though, because I know you guys.
Speaker A:You guys film a couple different ones, huh?
Speaker D:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:Usually, I mean, we just Running Gun, bro.
Speaker B:Like, I mean, the last few episodes, we just been it.
Speaker D:We're here.
Speaker B:Do right here, like, type wherever we're at.
Speaker D:We've done some.
Speaker D:We've done some.
Speaker A:I wanted to.
Speaker A:I wanted to.
Speaker A:This one with the logo and.
Speaker D:Yeah, everybody wants to come to this.
Speaker D:Yeah, no, this is.
Speaker D:This one's for sure the favorite.
Speaker D:But for some people, it's more convenient to, like.
Speaker D:So I live out in the Bay Area, so if it's more convenient out there, we'll.
Speaker D:We'll like book something out there and we'll just film there.
Speaker D:Or if.
Speaker D:If, you know, somebody has a cool setup or something that we can shoot out.
Speaker D:Like when we went to Vallejo and did the Good Company when we were just Able to set up, just kind of running gun, bring our stuff and just real quick setup and just shoot.
Speaker A:Oh, y' all did some good company.
Speaker A:Shit.
Speaker D:Yeah, we did it with Splash, the director.
Speaker A:Think.
Speaker D:Yeah, we gotta watch one of his live sessions.
Speaker D:I mean, a couple of his live sessions and then did the interview.
Speaker D:It was pretty dope.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's.
Speaker A:I like how they did that backyard booty.
Speaker A:That's just.
Speaker D:Yeah, it was cool to see it.
Speaker D:Like, when we pulled out, it was like, oh, damn, this is straight up what it really looks like.
Speaker D:Yeah, they built, like.
Speaker D:It's crazy because, like, they built a whole.
Speaker D:This whole infrastructure in their own town.
Speaker D:Like, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker D:Like, think about building in, like, your own little, like, the neighborhood you grew up building the infrastructure for, like, like, local artists, local producers, local pianists, local instrumentalists and stuff all to come and collaborate together and work together.
Speaker D:It's a cool environment, bro.
Speaker D:For real.
Speaker D:It was a cool.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I remember when I started seeing it, I was like, damn, that.
Speaker A:That's dope.
Speaker A:As.
Speaker D:Yeah, it's like a resort for, like, content creators.
Speaker C:Almost, like, not content, but.
Speaker D:Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Speaker D:But like, yeah, the.
Speaker D:It's crazy.
Speaker D:They just got.
Speaker D:They had a girl back there playing the harp.
Speaker D:Like, they had all this going on, bro.
Speaker D:The violinist in there, so he was getting down.
Speaker D:Yeah, so.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah, we seen Russell spin with that violin.
Speaker D:Yeah, yeah, it was cool to see.
Speaker B:The live band, bro, we need to rest on this.
Speaker D:No, for real.
Speaker C:Shout out to resol.
Speaker C:He did, like, one of our posts, though.
Speaker D:Shout out him, for sure.
Speaker D:He popped his head in, I guess.
Speaker D:Yeah, I didn't see him.
Speaker D:He did, but he just kind of looked at us and then just.
Speaker D:Just put his name.
Speaker A:I think he just made a appearance on Snoop Doggs Is It a Crime album.
Speaker A:I was slapping that and.
Speaker A:And like, the third track, I heard.
Speaker A:I heard you hear the.
Speaker A:Russell's like.
Speaker A:Like, just yell out, you know, like, damn, that's tight.
Speaker B:Like a theme song for the Giants.
Speaker B:The Giants?
Speaker B:They play when you guys were there?
Speaker D:No, we didn't hear it or nothing, but we did talk about it.
Speaker D:He was kind of just talking about, like, the what?
Speaker D:What.
Speaker D:It was like, shooting the whole thing because they had a couple different visualizers throughout Oracle park, bro.
Speaker D:This looks sick.
Speaker D:You know, and then he.
Speaker C:Now he just posted the other day, he did a.
Speaker A:That's an independent bass, right?
Speaker C:Yeah, he just did a theme song for, like, an RV repair company.
Speaker C:And I was like, bro, he's unlocking bags that People aren't even thinking about are gonna start paying for like local rappers to do theme songs.
Speaker A:Custom Kings, he, he does custom raps course.
Speaker A:Whatever the man.
Speaker A:I did a feature for this like a year ago.
Speaker A:You cat, no food.
Speaker A:My boy Edgar, he was like, man, I want a theme song for the shop.
Speaker A:I'm like, it's good.
Speaker A:When I pull up, I'm in something clean, does my thing.
Speaker A:This is Custom King and I did it.
Speaker A:Yeah, we gotta shoot a video with all the cars and you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But yes, bags out here remain on the the flow.
Speaker A:You just gotta get them, boy, for sure.
Speaker D:And that independent hustle is different, bro.
Speaker C:You get, you get creative.
Speaker C:You get creative because you're hitting smaller markets.
Speaker C:You're not hitting like you're not able.
Speaker D:To do just the minimum.
Speaker C:You have to start being like, you.
Speaker D:Know, thinking outside the box and it's dope for sure.
Speaker D:First off, man, we, you know, we appreciate you coming out this way, but you know, before we close it out, I want to hear what can we look forward to what's coming up here, here next.
Speaker A:Man, every time I do anything, I'm shooting to be better than what I just did.
Speaker A:So if you like this, it's gonna be topped.
Speaker A:You know, I'm saying that's the goal from production wise I want to do.
Speaker A:I haven't done it.
Speaker A:There's a lot, I look back and there's a lot I've done.
Speaker A:There's a lot that I haven't done yet.
Speaker A:Like I did like a storytelling like acting, music video or I haven't done a lot of music with female artists, with singing and like, like I haven't done a lot of shows, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Like I've turned down a lot of shows this year just because my big headed ass was a heck gonna be headliner, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:But like there's a lot of room of growth for me that I see and for the label.
Speaker A:So a lot more, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And I'm shooting for you.
Speaker A:Go back and you'll see like album probably drop like an album a year type.
Speaker A:Oh, that is done like, like, like I don't give a what I'm going through.
Speaker A:I'm forcing my hand and I'm shooting for three projects a year at the very least, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And it's June, already got two in, you know, it's hella good.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker D:So halfway through the year, you already got what Two thirds of the way through that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I'm shooting for maybe a collab album next just to help, because I did two solos already and probably just save a solo for next year, like, kicking off the year, so something like that.
Speaker A:But yeah, man, just doing what I'm doing in a.
Speaker A:In a higher fashion, you know, in a major way.
Speaker A:I mean, just better all the way around, from beats and all that, you.
Speaker D:Know, speaking into existence.
Speaker C:Who do you want to get that collab album with?
Speaker A:Who's your dream collab album, man, I ain't even tripping on what I.
Speaker A:I want to do.
Speaker A:I got so much.
Speaker A:I got, man.
Speaker A:I been.
Speaker A:Had an Ace.
Speaker A:Me and Ace had a.
Speaker A:A barely album.
Speaker D:Okay.
Speaker A:I've always wanted to do an album a.
Speaker A:A song based on the movie Belly, but I know the COVID is with another artist, so I'm like, I gotta wait till I get somebody with that chemistry.
Speaker A:And it just kind of fit Belly of the Valley, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It's like, nice.
Speaker A:Yeah, we got.
Speaker A:That shit's gonna be dope.
Speaker A:I got a project with so For Real CN I got a lot of.
Speaker A:But man.
Speaker A:To speak some to exist this, man, since you opened that door, man.
Speaker A:They asked me that in the last podcast, bro.
Speaker A:When I left, I was like.
Speaker A:Like, I should have said this, but, man, it's the same thing.
Speaker A:Kind of put me on the spot, bro.
Speaker A:Man, there's so many artists, bro.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's too much.
Speaker A:It's like asking, what's your favorite movie on the spot, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:It's a lot out there.
Speaker A:I just.
Speaker A:My boy Mark Ford just got me on a.
Speaker A:On a.
Speaker A:On a song, and then he went and put some footwork in and got Cosmo on that, too.
Speaker D:Okay.
Speaker A:So that's an accomplishment for me.
Speaker A:I would say I want to work with.
Speaker A:Cause.
Speaker A:But that kind of already just played it, so this landed in my lap, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Maybe some solo for him.
Speaker A:I want to get some more with Young Chowder, man.
Speaker A:Collab albums, though.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's a lot.
Speaker A:That's a big one.
Speaker A:Price, Sugar free.
Speaker A:Some player, some tuxedos or something.
Speaker A:Probably, man.
Speaker A:What artists am I with, man?
Speaker A:I want to do a Tonight show with DJ Fresh.
Speaker A:That's always been a close line.
Speaker A:I think that'll be dope.
Speaker B:Yeah, that'd be fun.
Speaker A:Probably.
Speaker A:I could be here all day.
Speaker B:How long you got?
Speaker A:How long you got, man?
Speaker C:That shows.
Speaker E:Pretty original.
Speaker E:I like that idea.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:D.J.
Speaker A:fresh guy.
Speaker A:Yeah, definitely.
Speaker E:Like this one with Currency.
Speaker A:Currency has a.
Speaker A:Yeah, that one's dope.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:He's been doing that for years, man.
Speaker A:But man, it's a lot of artists.
Speaker A:I know when I leave here, I'm gonna be pissed.
Speaker A:Like cocaine.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:Jelly Roll.
Speaker A:I wanna grew up off his sound too.
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker A:Like Mad Dog was the first people I was hearing, like the East Siders and they got a lot of cocaine.
Speaker A:And he does people that don't know him.
Speaker A:He's out of Pomona, California.
Speaker A:Does a lot of singing hooks and just ambiance.
Speaker A:Like, you know, I think that'll be dope.
Speaker A:It would complement my style.
Speaker A:Well, just we did like a whole little EP or something like that would be dope, man.
Speaker A:Like I said I could keep going, bro.
Speaker A:You gave me enough time.
Speaker D:No, that's dope, bro.
Speaker A:It's a lot too.
Speaker A:To.
Speaker A:To be coming, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:I got a lot of old, unfortunately that's gonna be dropped.
Speaker A:That's new to the people that I'm gonna cringe at because my flow didn't adapt it, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker A:And improve.
Speaker A:But yeah, man, at least three projects a year, you know, A whole lot of more content about to get a camera.
Speaker A:Y' all gonna see my face a whole lot more.
Speaker A:So get used to that.
Speaker E:Ready to see the behind the scenes.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker D:Get some access behind truly Goonies song.
Speaker E:Might have to.
Speaker E:Might have to get a collab song.
Speaker D:Maybe.
Speaker E:Maybe this.
Speaker A:We.
Speaker A:We.
Speaker A:We haven't.
Speaker A:We don't got a song together, huh?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker C:No.
Speaker A:You still making music?
Speaker B:Oh, man, I've been lagging the angle, huh?
Speaker B:I got to get some fire in my ass.
Speaker A:We'll put something together, man.
Speaker A:Bring the cameras and get the whole journey.
Speaker C:We could go to the studio session.
Speaker D:With this, set the whole thing up.
Speaker D:You guys get the whole thing behind.
Speaker A:The scenes, selection of beats or whatever.
Speaker E:More content.
Speaker D:More content for sure.
Speaker D:So one last thing you can leave to, you know, your supporters, the fans.
Speaker D:It could be a little bit of advice, something you just want to say to end it off.
Speaker D:You have any advice or anything?
Speaker A:Just do.
Speaker A:Do what comes natural.
Speaker A:Do what you love.
Speaker A:Find about what you love.
Speaker A:Find out, dissect what you're doing naturally, what you gravitate towards to and manipulate the situation or whatever it is and bend it and mold it to where you could try to get some money out of it.
Speaker A:That's what I'm doing.
Speaker A:And it's been.
Speaker A:And it's been working for me.
Speaker A:You know, I'm saying, find out what I liked.
Speaker A:And there's times in my career where I wasn't making no money.
Speaker A:I got like that.
Speaker A:I'm doing a merch run and put up a little couple hundred.
Speaker A:Seen a couple thousand back.
Speaker A:There's ways out here to make money with you love stuff.
Speaker A:And you're not making no money with streams.
Speaker A:Just use your music videos as commercials to keep your name lit and go make some money another way.
Speaker A:Whether that be features, people do merches like you could promote to wear somebody's merch on the show or or podcast or something like that.
Speaker A:There's ways out here to make money.
Speaker A:So find out what you love, what you gravitate towards, too, and manipulate the situation and put it in your pocket, man.
Speaker A:You know what I'm saying, man?
Speaker A:That should be fruitful.
Speaker A:You facts, Definitely.
Speaker A:Yeah, appreciate y' all, man.
Speaker A:Yeah, appreciate you.
Speaker B:Thank you again, bro, for coming through.
Speaker B:I know it was a little bit.
Speaker D:Of a drive, but we appreciate it, man.
Speaker A:It's all good.
Speaker B:We have to do it again, part two, for sure.
Speaker A:We have to bottle with some yak, man.
Speaker C:We'll have the bottle for you next time.
Speaker B:We'll have one and then one half empty.
Speaker A:That's right.
Speaker C:No, definitely.
Speaker D:But thank you again, truly.
Speaker D:Goonies.
Speaker D:You know, guys, if you haven't already already, like, comment.
Speaker D:Subscribe.
Speaker D:Do the damn thing.
Speaker A:Yours truly out now.
Speaker A:Yours truly out now, man.
Speaker A:Go with it.
