Speaker C:You guys seen some of the stuff behind the scenes, but I mean, obviously, like, from the stuff that we've been doing already, I think I want to do something, like, a little different too, kind of experiment with it, too, you know, Because I feel like it's a perfect opportunity.
Speaker C:You know, every job is like, a new opportunity to kind of, like, see what you can create more.

Speaker F:Take us a little bit behind the scenes, like, of that creative process.
Speaker F:Like, what do you.
Speaker F:What kind of mental space are you guys in?
Speaker F:How do you guys go about that?
Speaker A:The influence.
Speaker C:Yeah, I think the mental space that we're in when we do design or, like, create is, like, this could be better.
Speaker C:You know, it's never like, a thing where it's like, okay, like, I'm content with this.
Speaker C:Unless, like, you know, obviously, like, we already thought about it, like, what we could do, all the small details.
Speaker C:Because I do feel like the small details matter, you know?
Speaker C:And so me and Jay always, like, you know, tell her.
Speaker C:Talk to our graphic designer.
Speaker C:And we're always like, yo, like, we could do this, or let's try this.
Speaker C:And then even.
Speaker C:Even every little detail.
Speaker C:Hey, what models can we use?
Speaker B:What.
Speaker C:What little details can we add to this picture?
Speaker C:You know, this shoe, everything.
Speaker C:So I guess, like, you could say it comes from, like, just wanting to be better, you know?
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker D:Yeah, like low key, me.
Speaker D:So our graphic designer's name is Nam, right?
Speaker D:Me, him and Ed.
Speaker A:We love the work we're doing.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker D:But, like, when we get together and create, like, these designs and put together a drop, we could literally just sit there for, like, hours, hours, hours.
Speaker C:And we have, we have.
Speaker D:And it just never stops, really.
Speaker D:So.
Speaker F:Yeah, that's dope, bro.
Speaker F:Yeah.
Speaker A:And so, like, where does the, like, the.
Speaker A:The blue collar, you know, Ben Davis style come from?
Speaker A:Like, where does.
Speaker A:Where does all that, like, you guys have a big collection with it, I would say.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:So for the Ben Davis, I mean, I feel like I'm from la, so we're from la.
Speaker A:The brand right there.
Speaker C:Yeah, I guess you could say, like, it's just inspiration from, like, back then, you know, when people used to, like, we're Ben Davis, like, more casually, but, like, I wanted to kind of like the Dickies.
Speaker C:Yeah, Dickies.
Speaker C:Kind of like that work material kind of related back to, like, where I came from too, you know, that's why the brand came out, like it's from la.
Speaker C:I want to see how I can incorporate LA all the time, you know, especially with settings shoots.
Speaker C:Like, even with the models.
Speaker C:I like, you know, if, like, I'm like, oh, this guy's pretty dope, I always ask him, like, where are you from?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker C:And if he's from la, just brings it out more, you know?
Speaker C:And then sometimes, like, I even tell the models, like, yo, like, we should create something together.
Speaker C:But yeah, Ben.
Speaker C:That's where Ben Davis comes from, though.
Speaker B:Yeah, definitely.
Speaker B:Oh, and saying that your brand's, like, very rooted in la and obviously that's a big inspiration for your brand.
Speaker B:Take us through, like, the meaning, you know, and what that means to you guys and how you guys are, you know, turning Junkyard LA into a visual representation of your guys's, you know.
Speaker C:So I have like a short version and a long version.
Speaker C:So, I mean, the short version is kind of just like when you go through la, you've got.
Speaker C:You've guys seen it, bro.
Speaker C:You guys drive around.
Speaker C:It's not as glamorous as people think it is, you know, like, you go skate row.
Speaker C:It's all.
Speaker C:It's all crazy, bro.
Speaker C:Like, you think of a junker, you don't think of the best, most positive thing, you know?
Speaker C:So that's why I decided to use the junk card name.
Speaker C:And I also feel like, how can I relate to this name as well?
Speaker C:And I feel like, how do people relate to this as well?
Speaker C:Because not everyone's from la, you know, and so I feel like everyone has their own, like, battles, I guess you could say their own junkyard they have to deal with.
Speaker C:And I do feel like, like with our new logo, the Ever Ending Circle, I feel like people always are trying to escape their own junkyard, but at the same time, like, you know, they do drugs, smoke, drink, whatever, just to try to escape.
Speaker C:Even when you do escape it, you can't really truly escape it because that's where you're from, you know?
Speaker C:So I feel like that's why we came up with the logo.
Speaker C:The.
Speaker C:I don't know, I just like the vibe, you know?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker C:That's why I just, like, you keep building on it, like, trying to bring the idea a little more.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:And asking both of you guys, like, how.
Speaker B:How has it been obviously bringing these visuals to life and bringing that, you know, has it been easy?
Speaker B:Has it been hard?
Speaker B:Like, obviously it's hard to bring an idea to life, but, you know, you have such a great meaning to this brand.
Speaker B:How has that been visually representing that?
Speaker D:Man, that shit hard.
Speaker C:It is.
Speaker D:But like, we, me, him and our graphic designer, we go back and forth a lot on, like, what we should drop, what we should release.
Speaker D:But, like, everything that you guys see on the page, everything you guys are rocking is like pieces that made it past our, like, process of like, oh, does this represent, like, what we're trying to go for, for our brand?
Speaker D:Like, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker C:So, yeah, so I guess it just really depends on, like, where we're at too, you know, because sometimes, like, we think the simpler the better, but then sometimes we want to switch it up and make it crazy, you know?
Speaker C:So I guess you can expect, like, more crazier stuff to come in the spring because, I mean, as you can see, like, Chris's hoodie or Zip Up, Kev's like, zip up.
Speaker C:And so it's more simple, you know, it's more just like everyday fit.
Speaker C:It's good quality fit, you know?
Speaker A:So, like, I think you explained this one here, the one he's got on this black hoodie.
Speaker A:This one's tough.
Speaker B:That one's tough.
Speaker B:And it got like.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker B:So for those who can't see it.
Speaker C:Yeah, so.
Speaker C:So I guess the, like, it was like kind of like a trial thing with the tapestry too.
Speaker C:Yeah, me and Jay love the tapestry look.
Speaker C:So I feel like it's like the back is kind of like any.
Speaker C:Anybody that rocks the.
Speaker C:The hoodie.
Speaker C:It's kind of like you're just, you know, you're floating out of the junkyard, you're trying to get out, you know?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker C:And then, like, the.
Speaker C:The thorns around you is kind of like a halo.
Speaker C:Like you're the angel in your junkyard, you know, you're the chosen one from your thing.
Speaker C:So that's where you name it.
Speaker C:The chosen one.
Speaker F:That's dope.
Speaker B:That's dope.
Speaker B:That's dope.
Speaker A:Okay, that's cool.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker C:Yeah, so we thought about that for a little bit, and I like, like naming the pieces too, you know, sometimes.
Speaker C:No.
Speaker C:Yeah, the collections, it brings it all to life.
Speaker F:Yeah, that's hard.
Speaker A:That's cool.
Speaker A:That's cool.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker F:Talk about some of the.
Speaker F:The back end work that a lot of people don't see that went into doing this.
Speaker C:Like, damn, these are more of the back end stuff, I'll be honest.
Speaker D:All right, well, like, first of all, I'm not sure if you guys, like, ever tried producing something overseas, like with China or whatever.
Speaker D:That is like, a whole process.
Speaker D:Because even to get one sample and it'll probably take like, 30 to 45 days just to do it.
Speaker D:And then you have that type of back when back end stuff.
Speaker D:And then we got, like, the ads portion, like, running ads, and then like, trying to, you know, make our videos pop and then the content creation.
Speaker D:It's, like, a lot of stuff to do for three people, but, you know, we manage and we get it done, so.
Speaker C:Yeah, yeah, no, for sure.
Speaker C:Especially, bro, when.
Speaker C:When you get the.
Speaker C:The text from your manufacturer.
Speaker C:Yeah, we fucked up.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker D:Literally, just.
Speaker D:Just the other day, one of our manufacturers just messaged me, was like, hey, we fucked up your guys's jorts.
Speaker D:It's gonna take another 15 days.
Speaker D:It's like, bro, now we don't have it for a shoot that we planned for this week.
Speaker D:You know I'm saying.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker C:But then that also, like, kind of, like, helps us plan out, like, the future stuff too, you know?
Speaker C:Like, yo, instead of giving us, like, two, three weeks to wait for that sample, we give ourselves like, a month.
Speaker C:Like a month, you know, and a half, just so we could really plan it out, you know?
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:So those losses have obviously turned into, like, learning lessons.
Speaker B:What?
Speaker B:Yeah, what are some of the big, like, I guess learning lessons you've had to learn?
Speaker C:I guess for learning lessons, I mean, like, just the process, you know?
Speaker C:Like, I guess you could say, like, every little thing is a learning process, you know, like the models, like, bro, like, we've had instances where, yeah.
Speaker C:Just people would come late or, like, you know, certain things would happen or this isn't that where we didn't kind of like account for, so.
Speaker C:And then we rented the spot.
Speaker C:These people, you know, it's just like a bunch of things, you know, like that you learn from and then the sampling and then just spending, like, unnecessary funds and like certain things that, you know, you didn't think you needed or you thought you needed, but you didn't really need, you know?
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, it's all trial and error out at the end of the day.
Speaker C:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker C:But that's.
Speaker C:That's what becomes great though, you know, after you learn everything.
Speaker A:Okay, it's all business too.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's all fun too, huh?
Speaker F:As long as you guys are having fun.
Speaker C:That's.
Speaker C:Yeah, that's one thing that people don't realize, though.
Speaker C:Like, you know, like, you can't do it and if you don't do it for fun first, you know, like, people always want to focus on like, yo, I need to chase that bag.
Speaker C:I need to sell X amount of hoodies to get this, this and that.
Speaker C:It's just like, bro, like, that's not the right mentality, you know?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:It's just the same with the podcast, bro, you know?
Speaker A:Oh, yeah, for sure.
Speaker A:And that's one thing we say, like, it's hard, for sure.
Speaker A:Like, it's hard.
Speaker A:And we all say, like, man, we're tired, we're this, we're that.
Speaker A:But at the end of the day, like, oh, that was fun.
Speaker A:Oh, we did that.
Speaker A:You know, but so that's like, I know.
Speaker C:I.
Speaker A:For sure we feel what you're saying.
Speaker A:Like, it is hard and it's tough, but at the end of the day, it is fun for us, you know?
Speaker B:No, we could personally even like, understand because when we went and did our rollout for season one, we kind of tried to go with this idea we wanted and probably went too deep into this.
Speaker B:In reality, it could have just been a lot simpler and like, we didn't need to, like, put all the effort we put into in that.
Speaker B:It was like a wasted effort.
Speaker B:It was wasted money.
Speaker A:A lot of wasted money.
Speaker B:And now we know that going into season two, like, we're putting a lot more effort in our content rather than, you know, the rollout videos in a sense.
Speaker B:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker B:I could say.
Speaker A:And so do you guys also, like, cut and sew clothes as well?
Speaker A:Do you guys play around with that or.
Speaker C:That's the thing, bro.
Speaker C:Like, so for the hands on stuff.
Speaker C:Yeah, I mean, I'm not gonna Lie to you, Brown.
Speaker C:Not a soul.
Speaker C:You know, I would love to know.
Speaker C:Yeah, we actually talked.
Speaker C:Me and Jay talked about it.
Speaker C:We're like, yo, like, we should like find.
Speaker C:Find either someone, one of our close homies that does it.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker C:Or like you should learn ourselves, you know, but it's such a big process that we rather just perfect it in terms of like designing it first and having it overseas and then like, you know, because that's like kind of like a skill you learn, you know, just because you want to learn, you know.
Speaker A:Because something like us too, like, we're not trying to start no fashion brand or clothing brand, but we are into fashion and we love that too.
Speaker A:You know, we just like to dibble and dabble.
Speaker A:Maybe one day we'll cut up and sell a hoodie or something.
Speaker E:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker E:You know, a good sour.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:Sending him or her my way.
Speaker C:Yeah.

Speaker A:So from the nitty gritty of it, how.
Speaker A:How did you two meet?
Speaker A:How did you guys come along and say, we're going to.
Speaker A:Let's get together and do this show.
Speaker E:Tell us a little bit of the backstory.
Speaker A:Let's get it.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:So I know Jay from high school, like, and stuff, you know, so I'll know him here and there.
Speaker C:His best friend is like, look, one of my best friends, like, brother too.
Speaker C:So it's kind of like all close knit, you know, it kind of like, like everyone knows each other.
Speaker A:Mutual friends.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker C:But then we didn't, we didn't talk like that.
Speaker C:But then we were just hooked, you know?
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:Knew him like, you know, I thought he was cool, he thought I was cool, type.
Speaker C:And then, yeah, I just, I hit him up, bro.
Speaker D:Yeah, it was pretty crazy because we were at the local gym and we were hooping and then this was like when I barely knew Ed.
Speaker D:And then he came up to me, he was like, hey, I seen you doing a little clothing brand, blah, blah, blah, whatever.
Speaker D:And then cuz back then I was doing another clothing brand.
Speaker D:And then boom, fast forward like a couple months and then we just started junkyard together pretty much.
Speaker E:That's the organic process.
Speaker E:That's dope.
Speaker A:So it was outside of high school you guys started.
Speaker C:Yeah, it was, it was outside of high school, like the, out of high.
Speaker A:School you guys connected more.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, it's Usually how it goes, huh?
Speaker D:Yeah, for sure.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:That's cool.
Speaker A:That's cool.
Speaker B:This process for us having to go through and figure all this out, the trials and tribulations, it's obviously brought us, like, a lot closer.
Speaker B:How's that brought you guys, like, closer in a sense, and.
Speaker C:Oh, bro, it's just like, when.
Speaker C:When you.
Speaker C:When you start, like, working with somebody and you're just designing all day, you just learn random stuff, you know?
Speaker C:Like, you just randomly.
Speaker C:Bro, you just say, oh, you with this song.
Speaker C:Oh, yeah, me too, you know?
Speaker C:Or like, oh, you like doing this.
Speaker C:This isn't that.
Speaker C:I'm like, cool.
Speaker C:And then you just start kicking it, you know, Because I feel like, to a certain extent, you kind of have to know each other's chemistry, you know, there's like, a certain, like, thing where you guys, like, kind of, like, build off each other, you know, so especially.
Speaker D:Like, with, like, starting your own brand together, I'm sure you guys experience the same thing.
Speaker D:Like, you go through, like, a lot of, like, bad, you know, so.
Speaker D:We've been through a lot of shit together, so, yeah, we definitely got close to a lot.
Speaker C:For sure.
Speaker C:Yeah, for sure.
Speaker E:Through all the ups and downs and the trials, tribulations.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker E:It's.

Speaker E:It's dope just to see, you know, two people working together to bring something to fruition and bring it to life.
Speaker E:Like, you know, you guys have put a lot of effort and work into this stuff, so it's.
Speaker E:It's crazy to see it all paying off and all the hard work is definitely just being out there, put out into the world, bro.
Speaker E:How do you, like.
Speaker E:Yeah, how do you guys feel knowing that you guys started it from the ground up?
Speaker E:You guys brought it to life?

Speaker C:Like, when someone looks at a logo, like, I want them to be like.
Speaker C:Instead of saying the actual word junkyard, I want them to know it's junkyard, you know?

Speaker C:So that's why I want to make, like a logo that's like, I don't know, like, eye catching, you know?
